Concert Programs of the
 Uzbek Dance and Culture Society

The Uzbek Dance and Culture Society (UDCS) presents concert programs throughout the United States.  In 1989, UDCS organized the  U.S. tours for the "Artists of Uzbekistan" that included performances in San Marcos, Texas  and Minneapolis, Minnesota. In Washington, DC, the  visiting artists performed at Baird Auditorium at the Smithsonian Institute.

The following year, in 1990, the Uzbek Dance and Culture Society brought the twenty-member "Uzbekistan Folklore Ensemble" to the US for a West Coast tour that included Seattle's Meany Hall at the University of Washington and the Tacoma Folk Festival,. The company also appeared at Zellerbach Hall at the University of California in Berkeley.

Concert performances form an integral part of the Central Asian Dance Camp experience. These presentations feature guest teachers from Uzbekistan as well American performers of Central Asian dance. From Santa Fe to Washington, DC, audiences enjoy the opportunity to see these rare and exquisite dance forms.

The Uzbek Dance and Culture Society also assists with hosting and promoting individual artists and ensembles. In 2001, UDCS helped to bring Tashkent's Ensemble Munojot to the Kennedy Center.

Under the patronage of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, DC, the Uzbek Dance and Culture Society co-sponsored a guest Uzbek drummer for the two major concerts -- "The Golden Road to Samarkand" in 2006 and "Babur's Legacy" in 2007.
